Course Leader: Emmett S. Collazo, Attorney, Porzio, Bromberg & Newman
Emmett S. Collazo is an associate of Porzio, Bromberg & Newman and a member of the firm's Intellectual Property department where he counsels clients on national and international patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, and domain name matters.
Mr. Collazo's background in chemistry, pharmaceuticals, national defense technologies, computer file-sharing technologies, computer viruses, accident reconstruction, surgical and medical treatment techniques, and avionics technologies, enables him to understand the technical aspects of clients' inventions and processes. As important, he has a talent for bridging the gap between the technical and the legal, easily explaining to clients what steps they need to take to protect their property. Prior to joining Porzio, Bromberg & Newman, Mr. Collazo served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a judge advocate where he litigated cases for clients facing federal and international criminal charges. Mr. Collazo clerked at a military court of appeals. He co-authored papers on law and economics issues that were presented at national economic conferences. He also spent several years as a U.S. Marine Corps aviator conducting telecommunications missions across the globe, including in combat zones.
